Nuovo Milano Ettore Sottsass

Nuovo Milano saw the light of day in 1987, after several years of formal experiments, prototypes, and research on thicknesses. Ettore Sottsass revisited a traditional model in a contemporary key, insisting that his cutlery be "as smooth as a pebble from the sea." The audience agreed with his design approach: "Marketers think they know what the market is. A serious planner knows that he doesn't know, so he has to refer to his personal culture or patience or hope and say, I give this possibility to the market."

Nuovo Milano

The Nuovo Milano cutlery set, designed by Ettore Sottsass, has become a classic. The author wanted this tableware to be “smooth as an ocean rock”, with a soft and rounded shape. It won the XVIth Compasso d'oro award.
