"What's with the Juicy Salif juicer produced in a decidedly exaggerated size to fulfill its original function as a typical household item? It rises to a different and perhaps higher function: symbolic. That is, it symbolizes in its own way the truth of the object in consumer society: a 'gadget' (as Jean Boudrillard called it) that has lost its function and can 'playfully try to overcome our crisis of the purpose of utility."
