Moka Vite

Design: Philippe Malouin

Dedicated to those who appreciate bold, contemporary design, the Vite coffee maker, designed by Philippe Malouin, is made of aluminum: a material that gives espresso coffee a rich, rounded flavor. A small industrial sculpture capable of engaging with interiors of different styles, it is designed for use on all types of cooktops.

The Vite project was conceived in a completely unprecedented way in the history of Alessi. Malouin himself uses
the term Scrapyard Works: a creative process that quite literally begins in scrapyards, where the designer retrieves
metal fragments and gives them new life through recomposition and reinterpretation.

“The starting point for Vite grew out of a research method I often use in my
industrial design practice - exploring form and function through a kind of ‘cutand-
paste’ process, assembling existing metal components to test mechanical
ideas quickly and intuitively."

Philippe Malouin

Malouin’s design language is characterized by a marked ability for formal synthesis, distinct from classic minimalism.
His works emerge from simple, primary geometries, often decisively
truncated and reassembled with intuitive immediacy — an approach
that places him in a territory between art and design. The coffee maker’s boiler echoes the
form of a screw (vite), a direct reference to the
gesture involved in using the object. The
small flared base that concludes the boiler
— like the head of a screw — reinforces
this connection. The aluminum of the
boiler, contrasted with the colored tank,
further emphasizes this symbolic value.

Moka Vite: Alessi Exclusive

The Vite espresso coffee maker is a small industrial sculpture; the boiler echoes the shape of a screw (“vite” in Italian), a direct reference to the gesture of its use.The natural aluminium further emphasises this reference and gives the espresso a rounded, full-bodied taste.

Moka Vite: Colourful identity

Color is another central theme of the
Vite project. The versions in which the
coffee maker is offered originate from
research carried out in the Alessi workshop,
sampling hues from the working
environment, from the tones of the machinery
to other elements found throughout
the factory.

Sustainability and safety

Hardwearing and durable, aluminium is also completely recyclable. It is a material that can be recycled an infinite number of times without losing its qualities. Equipped with a latest-generation valve that assures maximum safety, including
on induction hobs.
